Accredited Course Units – Food Safety Supervisor
There are two accredited course units covered in etrainu’s Food Safety Supervisor online course.
The units of competency SITXFSA101 Use hygiene practices for food safety and SITXFSA201 Participate in safe food handling practices are part of the SIT12 Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package. These units are nationally accredited and recognised under the requirements of the VET Quality Framework. SITXFSA101 Use hygiene practices for food safety (Level 1 Food Handling) is a prerequisite for SITXFSA201 Participate in safe food handling practices (Level 2 Food Safety Supervisor) if completing the Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set.
You will be required to submit documentation as evidence to support the workplace observation segment of your assessment, (actual workplace performance). You must complete and pass every section of the assessment to progress to receive your Statement of Attainment.

No! If you’ve already completed the level 1 course, you will not need to do it again. Instead you will only be required to complete the second half of the Food Safety Supervisor course, Level 2 Food Safety Course – SITXFSA201. Who can sign off on my workplace observation documentation?
The Food Safety Supervisor online course requires a supervisor to sign off on the workplace observation checklist. This can be approved and ticked off by any person who holds the same certification (Food Safety Supervisor Statement of Attainment), including chefs, sous chefs, a proprietor or supervisors with industry experience. Alternatively, if it is a new premise you’re working at, alternative sign off operators can be organised to approve your documentation, such as a council worker, but this is on a case by case basis. There are two methods of sending your documentation to the etrainu team:

Should I be already working in the industry before I begin this course?
Yes, you should already be employed in the hospitality industry or have opportunities for workplace experience participation. To successfully graduate from the Food Safety Supervisor online course, you will be required to demonstrate workplace experience and get documentation signed off by an industry/workplace supervisor.
