The organisation has developed extensive national and state-based programs to ensure that development opportunities are provided for all participants in the sport. A not-for-profit business, Basketball Australia's members are the eight state and territory basketball associations.
Basketball Australia’s mission is to promote, develop, and elevate the sport of basketball across Australia. BA is dedicated to fostering a vibrant basketball community, empowering individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to engage in the game and unlock their full potential.

From communication to support, the etrainu team has been an absolute pleasure!
Through the etrainu platform, the main benefit we’ve seen is a significant increase in people signing up for coach accreditations.
That wouldn’t have been possible on the old system, as it’s not feasible to host a huge number of people in face-to-face sessions. But with etrainu, we can provide training every day of the week, every week of the month, every month of the year.

Game Development Manager at Basketball Australia
BA’s commitment to its members is underpinned by three core pillars: excellence, inclusivity, and community. To strive for excellence, BA aims to provide high-quality experiences, resources, and opportunities to all members to develop their skills, knowledge, and passion for the sport. In particular, BA seeks to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Before partnering with etrainu, Basketball Australia's coaching education and development programs were primarily conducted through traditional face-to-face settings at various locations throughout the country. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced a reevaluation of their education delivery methods.
The challenge was to transition to online learning while ensuring accessibility, consistency, and community engagement—and achieve excellence.

In partnership with etrainu, Basketball Australia created a centralised, online education hub for all its members across Australia.
Through this new platform, BA was able to provide its members with the opportunity to learn at their own pace through modular learning. The transition from face-to-face to online training was smooth and effortlessly allowed BA to change how they delivered the theoretical part of their education, particularly the coach education.
The platform also enabled BA to deliver a more consistent access point for their training and resources. etrainu’s ability to integrate with Stack Sports, BA’s preferred sports membership platform, meant that BA could have central data storage, including users, memberships, courses, completion statuses, etc.
Not only that, but Basketball Australia could also use the platform to meet their reporting requirements and share information with the associations in states and territories
Basketball Australia maintained its “learning together” component, which is a community of practice for coaches who have completed the accreditation courses. Through this, all the coaches can register to attend sessions and still get that community of learning with people in a similar situation and with similar challenges.
The etrainu platform also allowed Basketball Australia to fact-check and regulate the education being provided to coaches and spark ideas for what BA can add to the platform moving forward. Basketball Australia found that through etrainu’s platform and support, they were able to deliver the best product they could provide. The user journey was also smooth and flawless, as users were able to sign up on the Stack Sports platform and then be transitioned across to access the training.
Through the etrainu platform, Basketball Australia has experienced a demographic expansion. BA has seen more female coaches becoming more comfortable in gaining the accreditation because they could learn at their own pace and in their own environment. Female coaches (and other users) also found it beneficial to complete all the theoretical components of the training before attending practical sessions in person.
Basketball Australia has also seen a substantial increase in coaches seeking accreditation. In the last 365 days, on average, BA has seen 18 coaches a day sign up for their coaching courses.
By leveraging etrainu’s platform, Basketball Australia successfully transitioned to an online training platform, driving increased participation and fostering a more inclusive and engaged coaching community.
