Ref Support partners with etrainu to level up referee support

April 29, 2024

Ref Support has partnered with etrainu to level up the way they deliver referee training by providing a platform for professional development and maximising the way referees learn.

With a membership base of over 22,000, Ref Support focuses on supporting referees at all levels, including grassroots and professional. The organisation has been instrumental in offering various assistance to their members, including news, updates, information, educational and social activities, and abuse support.

The partnership will see Ref Support deliver a more dynamic learning experience to members through the etrainu learning management system (LMS). Adopting etrainu's platform will transition Ref Support members to a sleeker,  more efficient solution, enhancing the user experience.

Some of the key challenges referees face—particularly at the grassroots level—include lack of training, lack of financial support, and abuse on the field from players, coaches, or spectators. To offset some of these challenges, Ref Support will use etrainu's platform to deliver quality and affordable training for referees and ensure it remains accessible to all members. Beyond that, the platform will also allow Ref Support to have a more seamless management and reporting process.

“Ref Support is excited to partner with etrainu for our online learning and content management,” said Janie Frampton, Trustee. “This collaboration will allow us to provide a space for our members to receive training without worrying about the process, fostering a sense of support and community.”

Cameron O’Rioradan, VP of Sales (Sport) at etrainu, said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Ref Support to the etrainu community. Our partnership will help Ref Support provide a platform and education pathways to their members, delivering value and enhancing support.”

Initially, Ref Support will provide training centred around football, particularly the Interactive Laws of the Game. Other courses will focus on skills referees need to succeed in the game, such as communication skills, effective management, and cultural awareness.

Future plans are in the works to provide an ongoing expansion and development of courses to meet the evolving needs of referees around the world.

Ref Support’s mission is to raise the quality, status, and support of grassroots refereeing for the good of and the interests of the game. Through the partnership with etrainu, Ref Support will elevate the way referees approach the game and achieve new levels of excellence.

About Ref Support

Ref Support UK is a charity in the UK that represents the best interests of referees in football.

Ref Support’s mission is to raise the quality, status, and support of grassroots refereeing for the good of and the interests of the game. The organisation seeks to be a hub for members to receive news, updates, and information and access educational and social activities.

Ref Support recognises the lack of support given to the majority of match officials, particularly in the grassroots game. Part of Ref Support’s vision is to reach out to all underrepresented groups and provide specific support to develop referees.

Ref Support draws on several years of experience in football to meet the needs of referees in the modern game and support and represent them. The aim of Ref Support is to promote the same values, vision and KPIs of national and local organisations in a professional manner, with the best interests of all concerned being paramount in their actions.
