The NDIS Commission has launched a free training package on Positive Behaviour Support for disability support workers across Australia. The training is on the etrainu platform.

The training includes three short, self-paced online courses. Together, these courses give an understanding of how to support people in safe, respectful, and person-centred ways.

Up to 15,000 disability support workers can access the training. It's flexible, easy to use, and designed to help workers feel more confident in their role.

This initiative is supported by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. It is part of shared commitment to build a skilled workforce that protects the rights of people with disability. The training is aligned with the NDIS Practice Standards and the NDIS Code of Conduct.

What the Training Covers

Disability Support Workers can now enrol in the following online courses:

  • Positive Behaviour Support: This course will help you learn what Positive Behaviour Support is and how to use it in your work.

  • Human Rights and You - Zero Tolerance: This course will help you learn about human rights, why they are important and how to uphold the rights of the people you support.

  • Trauma-Informed Support Films: These short films will help you understand what trauma is and how it might affect the people you support.

Learn more about the courses here.

Each course includes a certificate of completion to support ongoing professional development. The content is designed to be practical and relevant, so disability support workers can use what they learn in real situations.
