Course Overview
The NDIS is Australia’s national scheme for people with disability, and the biggest reform to disability support since Medicare. For the people who deliver it every day, good support starts with understanding the scheme, the rules, and the person in front of you.
etrainu’s NDIS Induction gives new and current support workers everything they need to start safely and work with confidence. Across six connected modules it moves from how the scheme works, through rights and person-centred practice, safeguarding, work health and safety, positive behaviour support, and inclusive communication, always coming back to the same question: what does this look like in everyday support?
Each module uses video, real workplace scenarios, interactive activities and knowledge checks, so the learning stays practical and easy to apply on your very next shift.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Explain what the NDIS is, who runs it, and how funding and plans work
- Apply rights-based, person-centred practice and support choice and control
- Recognise abuse, neglect and restrictive practices, and follow the right reporting pathways
- Work safely, with sound WHS, infection control, medication and documentation practice
- Support people whose behaviour can be harmful, using Positive Behaviour Support and trauma-informed principles
- Communicate inclusively and provide culturally safe support across diverse communities
- Work within the NDIS Code of Conduct and the boundaries of a support worker’s role

What is the NDIS Induction course and who is it for?
It's a six-module eLearning course that prepares new and current support workers to work safely and confidently under the NDIS, covering how the scheme works, rights and person-centred practice, safeguarding, work health and safety, positive behaviour support and trauma-informed practice, and inclusive communication. It's also ideal for providers wanting a consistent induction for new starters.
How long does it take and how does it work?
About 185 minutes across six modules (roughly 30 to 45 minutes each). It's self-paced and works on any device. You can stop and resume where you left off, with knowledge checks and a short quiz in each module. It includes optional audio voiceovers and transcripts for accessibility.
Is it mapped to the NDIS Practice Standards, and does it make me compliant?
Yes , it's built around the NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators, the Workforce Capability Framework, and the Code of Conduct. It gives workers the core knowledge behind safe, compliant practice, but it's general guidance, not a replacement for your organisation's own policies and role-specific induction.
